Benchmark Homes is a family owned company that has been designing and implementing our customer's dreams since 1976. At Benchmark Homes we build Custom homes. Chip and Chuck Bateson, the company owners, are on the construction site every day. We have been home builders in South Carolina since 1990 and have continued our education in wind and hurricane protection, exterior materials application and building and fire code compliance. We are licensed, insured and dedicated to building custom homes of which we can be proud.

At Benchmark Homes, we have a way of controlling the problem of running over the budget as we approach completion of your home design. The most significant savings will be realized by com-municating what you expect prior to commencement of construction. All materials must be defined properly in order to insure that you receive the product you desire. Most of these finish items will be treated as allowances. These are items which have a budget which you set. If you stay under your budget, you will receive a refund from us for that amount. To do this correctly, we list every room in your home and the products that go into it. This document usually is about seven pages long. At first it is a fairly general listing of items, but as you select the specific floor coverings, lighting, fans, colors and trim, these are added to the listing for each room. This document may be amended as many times as necessary. When it is complete, it becomes our check list and guide.

Where we build

The Grand Strand is a sixty-mile stretch of beach extending from North Carolina to Winyah Bay. We have built homes throughout this area. If you are familiar with any part of the Strand or own property here, we are sure you will recognize the areas in which we have worked.
